Colocation Engineer
Storm4 is a company in the Data Centers industry looking for Colocation Engineers to manage power and infrastructure assignments at live data center sites across the West and South regions. This role involves technical responsibilities including power calculations, distribution planning, and customer interactions to ensure resilient and scalable data center solutions.
Responsibilities
Own power and infrastructure assignments for active data center sites
Perform and validate power calculations, load analysis, and capacity planning
Plan power distribution to the cabinet level
Design and evaluate redundancy and resiliency models (2N, 3/2, 4/3, Block Redundancy)
Conduct failover analysis and review one-line electrical diagrams
Support white space planning and design , including layout, rack density, and airflow (HAC / CAC)
Partner with Sales, Capacity, and Operations to deliver customer-ready solutions
Participate in customer meetings , site tours, and technical discussions—including difficult conversations (outages, failures, constraints)
Create, review, and maintain technical documentation and drawings (CAD used daily; training provided if needed)
Travel to assigned sites as required (heavier initially, then typically ~1 week/month or less)
Qualification
Required

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
Preferred
5+ years of data center experience (colocation or similar critical infrastructure)
Hands-on exposure to data center power systems
Comfortable with power calculations
Customer-facing experience; able to clearly communicate technical concepts under pressure
Ability to support white space design and planning
Electrical Engineering degree
CAD experience
Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and sound engineering judgment
