Development Coordinator

ShelterBox USA is a leading global nonprofit organization focused on delivering humanitarian aid during disasters. They are seeking a highly organized Development Coordinator to assist in fundraising efforts across various channels and support the development team in proposal writing, research, and internal coordination.

Responsibilities

Work with development team to write compelling grant proposals, letters of intent (LOIs), concept notes, and donor reports, ensuring alignment with funder priorities
Collaborate with development team to gather programmatic information, relevant data, and budget information to support the development of grant materials
Research, identify, and qualify foundations, Rotary, and corporate prospects aligned with ShelterBox’s mission and strategic funding priorities (such as support for women and girls, livelihoods, protection, climate resilience, WASH, and more)
Support development team in prospective funder pipeline management, including tracking deadlines, priorities, and giving patterns
Conduct research and analysis to support fundraising efforts, including prospect prioritization and other research that assesses the alignment between ShelterBox’s mission and funder interests
Prepare donor briefs, slide decks, and funding landscape summaries to support cultivation and stewardship processes in consultation with the development team
Monitor funding trends and news in the humanitarian and development sectors to inform fundraising strategy
Contribute to volunteer and ambassador engagement efforts through content and coordination support
Enter and maintain prospect details in Raiser’s Edge
Maintain internal files and version control for proposals and reports in Raiser’s Edge, SharePoint, and other internal databases
Support compliance with grant terms and reporting requirements
Participate in team meetings, learning initiatives, and cross-functional projects as needed

Required

Minimum 3 years of experience in nonprofit development, international development, grants management, or related roles
Strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape and current trends in U.S. giving
Deep appreciation for global issues of displacement, disaster response, and gender-informed philanthropy
Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex global programs into compelling, donor-friendly language
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
Experience crafting proposals and reports for U.S.-based funders

Preferred

Bachelor's degree required, preferred fields include nonprofit management, international relations, or a related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CRM platforms (Raiser's Edge preferred)
Knowledge of ShelterBox's mission, emergency shelter, or global disaster response is a plus
