Responsibilities
Performs project related duties as assigned by supervisor
Assists supervisor in completion of design estimate package
Procures data, specifications and related existing drawings to use on assigned projects
Perform necessary field work and survey
Maintains field notes and field information in usable and retrievable form
Develop accurate and complete 3D models and 2D design drawings and layouts
Prepare complete design packages and other deliverables as per project specifications and client requests
Provides layout and design as per project demands. Provides supervisor with suggested design or presentation
Reviews drawings for completeness and arranges for checking of drawings. Performs checking on other projects
Completes bill-of-material and client transmittals, organizes client design packages, and performs other duties as required for the project work
Assists design group leaders and project engineers by performing work within estimated man-hours
Provides field follow-up on projects
Provides support and communication to project members
Trains other designers, drafters, and junior employees
Interfaces with clients and other Chemic disciplines to answer questions, resolve conflicts, and complete assignments
Assists project leads in preparing man-hour estimates and proposals
Performs additional duties as required and requested
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent required
Must have good computer skills with proficiency in all major software, including Excel and Word
Must have good communication skills (verbal and written)
Must be proficient in all engineering codes applicable to practicing discipline
Must be proficient in using all major design and CAD technological tools applicable to practicing discipline, including Advanced Steel, AutoPlant, AutoCAD, CADWorx, and LFM
Must be proficient in using survey equipment and laser scanning equipment
Must be proficient in executing field work and field survey related activities and capable of leading such crews on in-plant project assignments
Must be able to comprehend client-based design and drafting standards, engineering sketches, and other reference material and apply to design applications
Must have good analytical skills and the ability to apply using good common sense
Must be capable of supervising a minimum of two (2) design personnel
Must have current driver's license, a car and proof of insurance
Requires five or more years' experience taking field notes
Five or more years design and field experience in petrochemical/chemical plants and refineries, or three or more years design and field experience in petrochemical/chemical plants and refineries plus two or more years AutoPlant, AutoCAD, and CADWorx
Preferred
College drafting degree preferred
