Office Specialist - Public Health
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Office Specialist to join the Vital Records Team within the Division of Public Health. The role involves handling phone inquiries, organizing documents, and assisting with certification-related activities to support the health and well-being of Nebraskans.

Responsibilities
Answer and route phone calls to the appropriate person or department
Perform accurate and timely data entry
Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including overnight deliveries
Process and organize returned mail; contact customers as needed via phone or email
Assist in the issuance of vital records, such as birth, death, marriage, and dissolution certificates
Learn and follow relevant policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency
Experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment
Preferred
In-person customer service experience in a public-facing or fast-paced environment
Office experience in public service, including data entry, database use, and handling confidential information
