Senior Mortgage Processor

Union Bank & Trust is seeking a Senior Mortgage Processor to handle mortgage loans intended for sale on the secondary market. The role involves processing various loan types, coordinating with all parties in the transaction, and ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

Process mortgage loans intended for sale on the secondary market including Conventional, FHA, VA, NIFA and other special programs as needed. This includes all processing steps from origination up until closing
Review file for accuracy, analyze documentation, pre-underwrite loan file and submit to underwriting
Coordinate loan process while working closely with all parties involved in transaction (originator, underwriter, closer, etc)
Manage a production pipeline and clearly communicate and accurately update the status of each loan
Review and clear all underwriting conditions prior to closing
Resolve all items identified in pre/post-closing reviews
Anticipate all requirements of the loan cycle from beginning to end
Ensure all transactions meet compliance bank policy, regulatory compliance, investor guidelines and customer service standards
Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training; follow internal processes and controls as required
Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position
Performs other job related duties or special projects as assigned

Required

Exceptional level of customer service to borrowers and officers
Demonstrated ability to review and apply Agency and Investor guidelines
Gaining knowledge and understanding of TRID, Adverse Action and Reg B
Minimum 3 year experience processing
Minimum 5 year experience secondary market loans (supervisor/manager discretion)
Effectively handle 30-60+ files in the pipeline at a time
Conventional – at least 150 purchase and 150 refinance transactions
FHA – at least 25 transactions
NIFA – at least 20 transactions with at least 10 being HBA's
VA and/or RD – at least 5 transactions
Jumbo – at least 5 transactions
Meets everyday Processing Expectations at a satisfactory level
DD/Closing/Funding/Post Closing Training & Knowledge Rotation
Produce 1 set of initial documents per quarter
Produce 1 redisclosure per quarter
Produce 1 set of closing docs per quarter
Must be able to VPN and serve as a business recovery critical team member
Extensive product/investor pricing knowledge
Demonstration of excellent written communication skills, procedure writing upon request will be required
Comfort level in training/assisting new or non senior processors
Demonstrated ability and confidence to review and apply Agency and Investor guidelines
Performance reviews will contain commentary from the underwriting department
Serves as a change agent by looking for process efficiencies, recommending changes in procedures for maximum effectiveness, skilled researcher and steps in and takes initiative
Seen as a team player demonstrating resiliency, flexibility, listen and collaboration skills with a generally positive attitude
Exceptionally high processing quality mirroring an entry level underwriter
Seen as a critical team member and a trusted resource by Sales Officers

Preferred

Thorough understanding of investor, agency, and compliance guidelines applicable to secondary market preferred
Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and in working with other financial software
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
Time efficient in managing multiple projects and deadlines
Accurate and detailed
