Payroll Specialist
LHH is seeking a Payroll Specialist with strong full-cycle payroll experience, particularly in the construction industry. The role involves processing payroll for 250+ employees and ensuring compliance with various regulations while maintaining accurate payroll records.
Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies
Manage certified payroll reporting in compliance with prevailing wage, Davis-Bacon, and other governing regulations
Validate timecards, job costing codes, deductions, and wage tables
Maintain employee payroll records, benefits deductions, garnishments, and multi-state tax requirements
Prepare payroll-related reports for management, auditors, and government agencies
Collaborate with HR, project managers, and field supervisors on payroll discrepancies
Participate in internal and external payroll compliance audits
Qualification
Required
2–5+ years of payroll experience, preferably within a construction, trades, or general contracting environment
Strong understanding of certified payroll, prevailing wage requirements, and union agreements
High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to manage high-volume payroll and strict deadlines
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Preferred
Proficiency in Sage 300 is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
