Director of Natural Gas Commercial Strategy and Business Development
The Edge Group is an upstream energy company focused on exploring, developing, and producing natural gas in the Appalachian region of the United States. They are seeking a Director of Natural Gas Commercial Strategy and Business Development to shape and execute the company’s natural gas market strategy through market analysis, price forecasting, and commercial planning.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team
Direct and own the analysis of market fundamentals (supply, demand, inventory, infrastructure) and market forces across local and NYMEX benchmarks
Create and maintain long-term natural gas market models and produce regular reports, research updates, and scenario analyses to inform executive leadership decisions
Develop and present defendable near- and longer-term price forecasts (NYMEX and basis differentials) to senior management and key stakeholders
Assist with the development of integrated strategies across physical sales and financial hedging to optimize risk-adjusted margins throughout the commodity cycle
Foster and maintain critical industry relationships to facilitate new business opportunities and enhance market intelligence
Collaborate with operations, midstream, and strategic planning teams to ensure alignment of market analysis with corporate goals
Identify and implement process improvements and technology solutions to enhance market analysis and reporting capabilities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
15+ years of experience in natural gas market analysis, marketing, or business development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Deep expertise in North American natural gas fundamentals, including supply/demand modeling, inventory analysis, and NYMEX/basis forecasting
Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills, with experience presenting complex market views to senior management
Proven ability to build and maintain industry relationships and identify new business opportunities
Proficiency in relevant market analysis tools, ETRM systems, and advanced Excel skills
Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
