Central Patient Scheduler

Responsibilities
Supervise, plan and coordinate the daily operation of all Patient Access Services Central Scheduling and Insurance Verification areas including working a PAS rotating on-call schedule in order to provide evening and weekend support to ER registration and hospital admission procedural emergencies
Responsible for employee training and development, employee performance evaluations including disciplinary management, manage staff schedules and coverage
Troubleshoot and identify workflow deficiencies and inform management of departmental condition or status changes not conductive to very good patient service
QA work to identify, educate and reduce repetitive error
Ensure timely insurance verification/authorizations are complete to prevent denials for all scheduled, late add-ons and STAT orders
Monitor and manage call center statistics to enhance average time to answer calls in order to improve patient and physician satisfaction with the scheduling process
Work the hospital daily unbilled and hold report
Assist with interviewing process
Ensure staff follows all hospital-wide and departmental policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
Minimum of five years' experience in a hospital scheduling and insurance verification department
Minimum of one year of team lead experience
Knowledge of scheduling outpatient diagnostic testing to include therapy (MRI's, CT's, NucMed, US, Cath Lab)
Must also have knowledge in the patient preparation requirements for certain procedures
Knowledge of insurance verification to include authorizations
Preferred
High school graduate or equivalent with one to two years college preferred
