Overhaul Technician

The Overhaul Technician is responsible for the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly of bogies, wheelsets, and their associated sub-components, ensuring the integrity, safety, and quality of all overhauled components.

Responsibilities
Proven experience working in a heavy engineering, rail, automotive, aerospace, or similar precision mechanical environment
Hands-on experience with mechanical overhaul, assembly, and testing of large components such as bogies, wheelsets, or rotating equipment
Competent in the use of lifting and handling equipment, including overhead cranes, manipulators, and hydraulic presses
Disassemble bogies and related components (wheelsets, axles, gearboxes, suspension, braking systems)
Perform visual and dimensional inspections on parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Identify wear, damage, and non-conformances, and document findings in inspection reports
Conduct component cleaning, and preparation for sandblasting, painting/coating as required
Assist with non-destructive testing (NDT) processes and support quality assurance checks
Reassemble bogies following technical drawings, torque specifications, and assembly procedures
Operate shop tools and heavy equipment (presses, cranes, torque wrenches, hydraulic tools, forklifts)
Align, fit and assemble component parts, using hand tools, power tools, measuring tools and blueprints
Verify specifications by measuring/testing completed components
Install, repair and service specialized mechanical equipment, machinery, panels as well as wiring/harnesses
Follow safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and hazard communication
Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality inspectors to resolve technical issues
Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Qualification
Required

Ability to work varying work shifts (1st, 2nd and 3rd), work based on project demands
Must have strong skills in mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment troubleshooting
Must have strong troubleshooting and blueprint schematics reading skills
Must be self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills essential for day to day operations
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Strong Microsoft Office skills (word and excel)
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred
Technical school or associated certifications preferred
Minimum of 2-3 years industrial maintenance related experience
Previous Rolling Stock experience would be a plus
Familiarity with NDT methods (MT, UT) would be a plus
