Responsibilities

Provide insight in the development, test, and certification of liquid propulsion systems for NASA’s engine development programs at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC)

Engage with senior engineers to provide insight on liquid engine structural elements and test fixtures, as well as producing independent analytical assessments

Develop and deliver reports and presentations, as well as collaborate with vendors and personnel from other NASA centers in the development of integrated flight hardware and associated ground test equipment

Assist with mentoring of junior engineers

Qualification

Required

A BS degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics or related field

A minimum of 15 years of experience

Familiarity with one or more major commercial finite element code such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, or NASTRAN

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment

Proof of U.S. Citizenship

Preferred

Degree from an ABET accredited institution

Experience in the application of finite element methods, empirical closed-form structural analysis techniques, and the assessment of failure mechanisms
