Responsibilities

The Ship HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist plays a vital part in maintaining the vessel's operational readiness, ensuring it remains in ROS-5 status for potential active service outside of its training duties
The duties of the Ship HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist include, but are not limited to, the proper monitoring of his/her designated equipment for proper operation, maintenance and repair of all shipboard domestic refrigeration and air conditioning systems, standalone A/C package units, walk-in reefers, reach-in reefers, water fountains, refrigerant air dryer systems, air handling units, air filtration systems, and electric heating coils
The physical demands of a Ship Plumber are significant
The job requires the ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined and noisy spaces, and navigate the moving, often narrow, passages of a vessel
A Ship Plumber must be skilled in maintaining and repairing a wide range of systems
The Second Assistant Engineer participates in the operation, maintenance and repair of ship's equipment and systems; the primary focus is the equipment and systems in machinery spaces such as the engine rooms, auxiliary machinery rooms, motor rooms, steering gear room however it is possible that time and effort will be spent outside of these spaces
The Third Assistant Engineer (3AE) Mariner operates and maintains ships propulsion machinery and related systems; performs maintenance and repair support to the engine department and perform other duties as required by Chief Engineer/First Engineer; participates in shipboard practical oversight of cadets
