Responsibilities
Lead technical reviews of U.S. statutory filings and regulatory returns prior to issuance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements
Maintain and enhance statutory and group-level disclosures, ensuring alignment with evolving accounting standards and best practices
Prepare and present technical accounting updates and reporting for audit committees and other governance forums
Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving complex or judgmental audit matters related to financial reporting
Act as a trusted business partner to finance teams across the organization, providing guidance on the accounting implications of transactions, structural changes, and new initiatives
Research, evaluate, and document conclusions on complex accounting issues, including the preparation of formal technical memoranda
Support finance business-as-usual teams with technical accounting papers for both internal governance and external audit purposes
Liaise directly with external auditors on technical accounting topics and interpretation matters
Contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of global accounting policies and procedures
Monitor new and emerging accounting and regulatory guidance, assess impacts to the organization, and support implementation of new or amended standards
Provide technical coaching and mentorship to finance team members, promoting consistent application of accounting policies and strengthening overall technical capability
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated experience working within or advising large insurance organizations, including exposure to U.S. statutory reporting and NAIC requirements
Strong command of technical accounting principles, with deep knowledge of NAIC SSAP and their application within insurance
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within the property & casualty insurance sector
Preferred
Experience in accounting advisory or consulting roles within public accounting is a plus
