Cost Accounting Supervisor

They are seeking a Cost Accounting Supervisor to support day-to-day cost accounting and inventory activities, focusing on detailed analysis, reconciliations, and reporting while collaborating closely with Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain.

Responsibilities
Maintain and update standard costs for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods
Review and validate bills of material, routings, and cost inputs to ensure accuracy
Perform detailed analysis of manufacturing variances, including labor, material usage, overhead, and yield
Support inventory accounting activities, including tracking balances, movements, and reserves
Partner with operations to identify cost drivers, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
Reconcile inventory-related general ledger accounts on a regular basis
Prepare cost-related journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules
Support month-end close activities related to inventory, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing expenses
Prepare recurring reports on product costs, margins, inventory trends, and operational performance
Assist with budget and forecast activities related to manufacturing costs and gross margin
Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to support manufacturing and inventory controls
Assist with cost modeling and analysis for new products, process changes, or operational initiatives
Support ERP and system enhancements related to costing, inventory, and reporting
Provide documentation and analysis to support internal and external audit requirements
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on accuracy, efficiency, and controls within cost accounting processes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
4+ years of hands-on cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience working in a standard cost or inventory-intensive environment
Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory accounting, and cost accounting methodologies
ERP system experience required
Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reconciliation work
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
Ability to manage deadlines and volume in a fast-paced, operational environment
Clear communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred
