Civil Engineering Manager
M2 Group, LLC is a dynamic firm focused on civil engineering projects in Middle Tennessee. They are seeking a Civil Engineering Manager to lead teams, oversee project execution, and ensure client satisfaction while fostering team development.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support growing teams of civil engineers and project managers
Oversee team scheduling, workload assignments, and project delivery to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met
Conduct performance evaluations and manage team development plans
Approve timesheets, expenses, and project billing
Assist in recruiting efforts with leadership and human resources for team development and growth
Oversee planning, design, and permitting for civil engineering projects
Ensure quality control and compliance with company SOPs and QA/QC standards
Review engineering deliverables including plans, reports, and permits
Ensure safety and regulatory compliance at every phase of project execution
Build and maintain strong client relationships and foster new business opportunities
Represent M2 Group at stakeholder meetings, municipal hearings, and entitlement processes
Support proposal writing, contract reviews, and project pursuit strategies
Participate in networking and industry events to promote the company
Monitor department performance, including project timelines, budgets, and profitability
Assist with invoices, collections, and financial reporting
Establish department goals aligned with the company’s mission and strategic vision
Support collaboration with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
Qualification
Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Tennessee
10+ years of experience in commercial and residential land development
5+ years in a leadership or managerial role
Proven experience managing teams, projects, budgets, and schedules
Strong technical knowledge of site design, permitting, and regulatory processes
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, BlueBeam, and civil engineering software (Civil 3D, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, etc.)
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Experience in business development and client management
Previous experience leading an office, studio, or business unit
Familiarity with Middle Tennessee's regulatory landscape
Active participation in professional or industry organizations
