Responsibilities

Provides leadership, training, and mentoring of the engineering team

Oversees, directs, plans, and executes engineering projects, including adherence to schedule, scope, budget, design, and internal QMS Process

Supervises and coaches a design team through projects and ensures projects will be completed accurately and timely

Build and maintain client relationships by communicating and understanding client’s needs, technical expertise/disciplines required, prepares complex design deliverables, and provides timely project updates

Promotes and performs QA/QC reviews of design in accordance with PHX Engineering’s QMS Process to insure design quality, compliance with client design standards, safety requirements, and good industry practices

Ability to manage the project design team; including the specification of equipment, project completion, coordination with customers, vendors and subcontractors

Performs complex engineering, calculations, and analysis in various power engineer and design softwares

Actively leads and mentors a team to create accurate and complete:

Schematic designs for our clients. This includes Single Line, Schematic Control, & Network Diagrams

Physical plant designs, including: 2D and 3D Layout, Ground Grids, Substructure, & Electrical Plans

Engineering designs, including Bill of Material, Power Studies, Protective Relay Settings, Specifications, Submittal Approval, & Calculations

Coordinates engagements, including interactions with clients and internal and external project managers

Participates in collaborative whiteboarding sessions to coordinate concepts and design challenges as they arise

10+ years' work experience and have worked for an electrical design firm, design build or EPC contractor, or utility specializing in substation and/or T&D

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

Active Professional Engineering (P.E.) License

Proficiency in MS Office Software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project

Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, & Excel required

Strong understanding of the NEC, NESC, RUS, IEEE, and building codes

Deep technical expertise with high voltage systems

Understanding of project management principles

Self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills or potential

Experience leading teams, managing multiple projects and strong ability to acquire and maintain excellent client relationships
