Community Engagement Summer 2026 Internship
YMCA Camp of Maine is seeking an enthusiastic, mission-driven individual for a full-time, residential Community Engagement Summer Internship as part of their summer program team leadership. The role focuses on enhancing YCamp's ability to connect with diverse audiences and includes responsibilities in communication, media asset strategy, and leading camper activities.
Non-profit Organization Management
Responsibilities
Gain an understanding of the nuances in communicating with different nonprofit audiences, such as parents, staff, alumni, and donors
Participate in developing a media asset strategy for the summer season, identifying the types of photos and videos needed for specific messaging
Create a portfolio that includes at least one of each of the following: newsletter, email blast, reel, donor thank you video, alumni or staff story
Increase editing and content creation skills
Learn about the donor cycle and importance of stewardship in donor relations
Develop and lead a camper activity that reflects the intern’s interests and skills, related to media, storytelling, or design
Qualification
Required
Must be a Maine resident working toward a degree in marketing, communications, public relations or similar fields or any student enrolled in a Maine community college or university in these fields
Must have prior summer camp experience as either a camper or counselor
Preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in writing for marketing, storytelling, or similar purpose preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in photography and/or videography preferred

Residential Benefits: The intern will live at YCamp and receive Room & Board valued at $3,300 for 11 weeks.
