L&I Revenue Agent 2
The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries is dedicated to keeping Washington safe and working. They are seeking a Revenue Agent 2 to assist individuals and businesses in ensuring compliance and contributing to the economic well-being and safety of Washington through effective debt collection and customer education.

Responsibilities
While balancing customer service, education, and compliance, you will explain as needed to debtors the origins of debts, while initiating accurate, effective and timely collection actions in accordance with applicable laws, policies and procedures
Manage a large caseload of debtors, which involves initiating contact with debtors, and using effective skip tracing methods if unable to locate a customer and assets
Perform field visits to business locations to investigate business operations, confirm business status, search for assets, serve legal orders, and gain compliance. This requires driving to locations to perform this duty
Analyze account history and the debtor's financial situation in order to determine the appropriate actions needed to resolve the account
Educate and assist customers/debtors on policies and procedures, answer questions and refer to appropriate staff when necessary
Document in detail all collection activities and customer/debtor interactions in multiple computer systems
Negotiate payment plans with employers or their financial and legal representatives
Review employer's financial records and determine ability to pay debt. Monitor payments and take appropriate action if firm defaults
Issue tax liens and garnishment orders to employers, banks and other income and asset sources
Analyze debtor's financial situation; create a plan of action to recover the overpayment, locate assets and determine the ability of their ability to pay
Qualification
Required
One (1) year of experience as a Revenue Agent 1
A Bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration, accounting, public administration, police science, economics, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, law, or closely related field
One (1) year of experience in personal or corporate finance, law enforcement, adjustment of claims, collection of civil debts, or other directly related field
Preferred
Knowledge of applicable Revised Codes of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Codes (WAC)
Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to revenue agent duties
Knowledge of decisions affecting the legal collection of funds
Knowledge of due process of law
Knowledge of general investigative techniques
Knowledge of community property laws
