Responsibilities

Oversee staffing, training, organization, productivity, and overall management of the Wiring Device-Kellems engineering department
Manage assigned NPD projects and ensure timely & successful execution to the project schedule
Evaluate and assign work based on priorities and individual skills; conduct annual performance reviews
Identify and recommend process improvements and training to enhance efficiency. Apply DFMA principles to design work; designate testing requirements and evaluate results
Provide hands-on-on-detailed support and oversight for all engineering NPD activities. Guide product specification development and review design concepts, layouts, and models for function, safety, cost, and compliance
Ensure Voice of the Customer is reflected in NPD project scope and requirements. Develop solutions to design and application problems; check and assure quality of design work
Report project status to management and take corrective actions as needed
Schedule project reviews and design reviews and secure alignment with all cross functional stakeholders
Stay current with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and secure necessary approvals (UL & CSA.)
Represent the company in codes and standards activities as assigned
Occasional travel as needed (10%) to visit our factory locations, attend industry meetings, and customer engagement opportunities
Monitor new materials, processes, and technologies; recommend improvements for performance and cost
Perform other responsibilities as needed based on organizational and company requirements

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) or related engineering discipline
Minimum 10–15 years of engineering experience in the design and development of electro-mechanical or electrical/electronic products, preferably wiring devices
At least 5 years of engineering management experience with proven engineering leadership and team-building skills
Hands-on design experience utilizing CAD tools
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques (high-volume plastic molding, metal stamping, casting)
Knowledge of engineering simulation tools (FEA analysis), materials, manufacturing processes, and root cause analysis techniques
Knowledge of certification standards and certification process (UL, CSA, IEC, NFPA)

Preferred

MBA or master's in management of technology (MS-MOT) or related advanced degree
