Fleet Mechanic

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the fleet garage operations, ensuring that vehicles operate safely and efficiently while complying with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Perform fleet garage operations, including preventive maintenance and scheduled services on fleet vehicles such as oil changes, inspections, mechanical work, bodywork, vehicle equipment upfitting, fuel, detail wash, and interior sanitizing
Conduct safety inspections to ensure vehicles meet DOT and company standards
Responsible for all vehicles drop-off and pick-ups to the mechanic shop, body work specialists, and equipment upfitting vendors
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records to submit to the fleet management team
Assist in developing and implementing maintenance schedules and procedures
Support the installation, removal, and maintenance of vehicle telematics systems – including tracking software monitoring and reporting as needed
Create and manage driver profiles within the telematics system
Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and manage inventory supplies and order parts as needed
Respond to emergency roadside service calls when required
Provide vehicle operation support for site tours as requested
Travel to all NYCEDC property locations and the fleet garage
Other duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior mechanical experience
Valid NYS driver's license
Driving experience within the NYC metro area
Dedicated to delivering quality work while providing excellent customer service
Demonstrated time management and task prioritization skills
Ability to perform under minimal supervision
Ability to maintain professional conduct and appearance
Availability to work overtime on short notice
New York City residence required within 180 days of hire

Preferred

ASE certification(s) preferred or willingness to obtain certification
Experience using Microsoft Office applications
