Modern Family Law, a rapidly expanding national family law firm, is seeking an experienced and innovative Legal Writing and Content Manager to work remotely. The role involves leading content strategy and execution across various channels, collaborating with marketing and SEO teams, and creating high-quality legal content to drive engagement and visibility.

Responsibilities

Own and maintain a rolling editorial calendar aligned to: Priority practice areas (e.g., divorce, custody, support, protection orders). Key geographies and locations. Core client journeys and real questions clients ask
Develop content themes and ongoing series such as "Divorce 101," "Custody Basics," or "What to Expect at Your First Consultation."
Collaborate with Growth Marketing to align content with campaigns, webinars, and new market launches
Work with the Director of Marketing to ensure content aligns with brand messaging, campaign priorities, and firm-wide initiatives
Write and edit high-quality content across: Practice area and location landing pages. Educational blogs, guides, and resource articles. Client-facing resource pages and FAQs. Attorney bios and profile stories. Thought leadership and light PR support pieces
Transform attorney interviews and complex legal insights into content that is clear, human, accurate, and accessible
Maintain a consistent brand voice: empathetic, direct, grounded, and trustworthy—avoiding unnecessary legal jargon
Coordinate with leadership, attorneys, and external partners to: Secure expert commentary, podcast appearances, and local/regional media mentions. While working closely with Content and PR resources, support bylined articles and thought leadership opportunities
Develop referral and co-marketing partnerships with therapists, financial planners, mediators, and family service providers
Translate attorney perspectives and legal concepts into structured, plain-language content suitable for a general audience
Own the calendar, research, submission, and tracking of attorney, staff, and firm award nominations (e.g., SuperLawers, Best Lawyers, local "Best Of" lists), ensuring high-quality, on-brand applications and follow-up
Prioritize content that supports active campaigns, community discussions, and strategic initiatives
Provide source material for social content, short-form video, webinars, and other distribution channels
Provide modular content building blocks (e.g., sections, FAQs, tips, scripts) for use in nurture flows and lifecycle campaigns
Provide updates when laws, processes, or firm positioning change
Partner on visuals, diagrams, PDFs, infographics, and social assets that bring written content to life
Regularly audit and refresh content to maintain accuracy, local/state compliance, and competitive positioning
Maintain a simple, organized content inventory to track existing assets, update needs, and publication locations
Ensure content complies with state bar rules, legal advertising guidelines, and Modern Family Law's quality and accuracy standards
Maintain a consistent, firm-aligned brand voice across all content

Required

5+ years of content marketing, legal writing, copywriting, or editorial experience (in-house or agency) within the legal industry
Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
Experience in legal, professional services, healthcare, or another highly regulated, high-trust category
Strong portfolio demonstrating long-form educational content (articles, guides, landing pages, resource hubs) that builds trust and drives conversions
Practical PR/earned media experience, including coordinating placements, supporting expert commentary, or running contributor programs
Demonstrated interviewing skills; confident speaking with attorneys and experts and converting complex ideas into clear, structured content
Working knowledge of on-page SEO best practices and experience measuring content performance and impact on lead generation
Highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with family law topics (divorce, custody, support, prenuptial agreements) or strong interest and ability to learn quickly
High level knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Suite of products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Adobe; and Zoom Conferencing Technology
Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to handle routine or emergent issues
Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to produce clear, empathetic, and trustworthy content
Ability to translate legal concepts into accessible language for general audiences without sacrificing accuracy
Strong judgment around tone, client sensitivity, and legal advertising guidelines
Ability to synthesize attorney interviews, legal input, and complex material into structured, high-quality content
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to review performance data and adjust content strategy accordingly
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with attorneys, leadership, and cross-functional teams
Ability to maintain a consistent brand voice across all content formats
Proactive and self-directed, with the ability to independently prioritize work and meet deadlines
Comfortable working across multiple platforms and tooling ecosystems (e.g., CMS, SEO tools, analytics dashboards)
Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality — especially in a high-trust, highly regulated legal environment
