Senior Research Technician - Ophthalmology

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Senior Research Technician in the Rajagopal Lab within the department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences. Responsibilities

Performs complex analysis/projects according to research protocols, explaining methods and procedures to other technicians
Enters data and maintains current data files on research projects. Monitors data to ensure consistent quality
Performs biochemical assays using mouse and human retinal tissue, maintaining mouse colonies with specific genetic modifications, and keeping logs of inventories
May perform preliminary statistical analysis of data
Organizes and maintains required documentation on lab and/or specimen conditions and develops and summarizes information into usable formats or presentations
Assures compliance with established safety procedures, compliance requirements, and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions
Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures
Assists in the training and development of technicians, acting as a group leader
Acts as a representative for the PI and ensures procedures and protocols are adhered to consistently and effectively meet department's standard. Should exhibit a high degree of independent problem solving and ability to conduct research on assigned projects
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Master's degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education
Laboratory Setting (1 Year)
Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals

Preferred

Individuals with experience in one or more of the following techniques: western blotting, quantitative PCR, immunofluorescence imaging, cell culture, mouse colony management and husbandry
