Responsibilities
Oversee and enhance up-front patient payment collection strategies, focusing on efficiency and compliance
Train and mentor staff on best practices for collections
Manage relationships with external collection agencies and monitor their performance
Develop, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient collections
Prepare and present regular reports on collection performance to senior leadership
Lead a team of collection specialists, conducting performance reviews and fostering a positive work environment
Monitor patient communication platforms (text, phone, email, statements) and ensure clear, compassionate financial communications
Ensure all collection activities comply with current laws, regulations, and internal policies
Collaborate with other departments to streamline billing and collection processes
Address and resolve patient billing inquiries and disputes professionally
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Minimum of five years' experience in medical billing and patient collections, with at least three years in a supervisory or leadership capacity
Strong knowledge of healthcare billing software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, manage KPIs, and implement corrective action plans
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally, with occasional overnight or air travel for conferences
Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead a team, and drive results in a dynamic environment
Strong knowledge of healthcare billing software
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
