Human Resources Manager
Pete Pappas & Sons Inc. is a fourth-generation, family-owned business specializing in premium produce distribution. The Human Resources Manager will lead HR operations, focusing on workforce development, employee engagement, and compliance, while partnering with leadership to drive performance and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business strategy
Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract top talent
Manage employee onboarding, training, and development programs
Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and retention of employees
Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization
Nurture a positive working environment and maintain a strong company culture
Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
Handle employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary actions
Manage performance appraisal systems that drive high performance
Delivers training and development programs to improve organization capability and effectiveness
Execute all HR policies, practices and processes to ensure legal compliance with regulatory standards and legal obligations governing employee practices, labor laws, audits and charges from regulatory agencies like EEOC and other state/local agencies, including I-9 regulations and tracking
Supports and coaches all plant leaders in the administration of work rules, policies and practices
Leverage recognition programs and manage and execute local incentives which drive an innovative high-performance culture
Manages and maintains Payroll and timekeeping functions
Manages worker’s compensation and unemployment claims
Manages benefits: enrollments and employee education, FMLA, STD & LTD
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university required
Extensive knowledge of I-9 regulations
Knowledge of both federal and state employment laws and regulations
Must have up-to-date knowledge and understanding of human resources and employment practices (selection, interviewing, job evaluations, contract administration, etc.)
Minimum 5 years direct HR experience required, including a minimum of 3 years in an HR Manager role
Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to handle information in a confidential manner
Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed, which includes some holidays and weekends
Preferred
PHR or SPHR certification a plus
Bi-Lingual: Spanish/English preferred
Experience with ADP payroll systems preferred
Experience in human resources function in a distribution environment, preferably in the food industry
