Mechanical Engineer
TECHSTAFF of AZ is seeking a hands-on, innovation-minded Mechanical Engineer to help design and refine products for easier installation and servicing. The role involves working closely with the Director of Engineering on new product development, executing mechanical designs, and ensuring alignment with real-world conditions.
Responsibilities
Support the Director of Engineering in executing new product development initiatives from concept through production, including design, prototyping, testing, and release
Develop detailed mechanical designs and drawings for equipment and accessories, ensuring alignment with performance, durability, manufacturability, and quality standards
Create, review, and refine system layouts and plans, ensuring hydraulic effectiveness, proper coverage, and installer-friendly execution
Incorporate real-world builder, installer, and service feedback into design improvements and future product iterations
Assist in prototype build, testing, validation, and failure analysis to confirm designs meet functional and environmental requirements
Collaborate with supply chain, operations, and external manufacturing partners to support DFM/DFA, tooling readiness, and production launch
Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and revision control, in accordance with NPI and ECO processes
Support product certification and compliance activities as required (e.g., safety, performance, regulatory testing)
Provide technical support to internal teams (sales, customer support, training) related to product function and installation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
1-3 years of experience in mechanical design and product development, preferably in consumer products, industrial equipment, or fluid-handling systems
Strong working knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and detailed drawing creation (SolidWorks or similar)
Experience supporting products from concept through production, including prototyping, testing, and design iteration
Ability to read, create, and review technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
Preferred
Experience with fluid dynamics, hydraulics, or related flow-based systems
Experience creating layouts (AutoCAD)
Familiarity with DFM, tooling considerations, and working with overseas manufacturers
Experience supporting structured New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes
Exposure to product testing, validation, and root-cause analysis in real-world operating environments
