Staff Accountant-Temporary
The City of Portland is currently recruiting for a Temporary Staff Accountant position. This role provides accounting support and ensures the integrity of the City’s financial records through various accounting tasks and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Provide accounting support and ensure the integrity of the City’s financial records
Preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records and reports
Maintaining the accuracy of the City’s ledgers and subsidiary financial systems
Handling the City’s utility system accounting
Monitoring the fixed assets of the City
Accounting for the City’s capital projects
Assisting in the annual audit and year end closing
Providing assistance to management, as needed
Perform other related work as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
Three years of related accounting experience required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to review, create and update procedures and processes relating to efficiencies, accuracy, internal controls, and risk assessments
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Knowledge of governmental fund accounting and project accounting
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
Proficient with Microsoft Office software and financial software systems
Valid Texas Class C Drivers' License
Preferred
Municipal government accounting experience highly preferred
