Manufacturing Device Level Analytics Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

Develop, validate & standardize controls devices data parsing PLC logic, own and update auto PLC logic generation tool
Ensure compliance to GM common controls hardware and software strategies for newly developed DLA controls solutions
Ensure compliance to GM plant floor systems, networking and cyber security requirements
Collaborate with DLA core team, business, IT, Automation and analytics community to capture, prioritize, plan and lead controls related hardware & software developments for DLA
Support GCCS & GCCH Controls, Networks and IT architects in development and testing of necessary controls software and inclusion of DLA logic in core PLC templates
Work in coordination with controls SMEs from various functions to ensure compatibility of DLA controls software and application
Understand and be proficient in use of DLA tools, such as InDepth, seek business value and support teams for implementation and use
Create & maintain necessary training documents, standardized work sheets
Understand latest industry trends and explore possibilities of using advance analytics tools
Understand observations from manufacturing plants and propose improvement solutions & provide feedback
Plan and support training and guidance to controls execution, strategic suppliers and plant teams as needed
Travel to GM Mfg facilities on need basis for pilots, tests, trainings, upgrades etc

Required

Strong analytical capabilities & hands on experience for advance level of PLC programming in Automotive manufacturing Industry, assembly and/or powertrain
Proficient in automation controls hardware and software knowledge
Hands-on experience on GM common controls hardware, software and network standards
Understanding of GM Plant Floor systems
Excellent collaboration, project management, communication and reporting skills
Understanding on concept of data analytics tools, techniques and its use in manufacturing systems
Knowledge on business intelligence and analytical tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Python
Ability to identify useful information in data sets and suggest conclusions that support decision making for data parsing from manufacturing processes & plant floor devices
Communication skills with the ability to understand complex decision models based on data analysis towards manufacturing data and explain to a wider audience
Project execution and/or plant maintenance experience in area of Automation controls with understanding of Automotive Manufacturing processes, Maintenance, Industrial engineering
Bachelor's degree in engineering
2+ years of Hands-on experience and expertise in PLC programming, GM Global Common controls
Experience in site implementation, project execution
