Responsibilities

Lead discrepancy coordinators in accepting and releasing waste for processing in accordance with permits, the Waste Analysis Plan, internal procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Ensure team members are properly trained and consistently follow safe, compliant waste-handling practices
Maintain audit oversight to ensure adherence to waste acceptance, quality control, and RFP guidelines
Coordinate and expedite the resolution and release of discrepant waste for processing
Distribute work effectively among team members and oversee the discrepancy resolution process
Identify and resolve complex issues related to waste profiling, approval, receipt, acceptance, discrepancy resolution, and processing options
Apply established guidelines to evaluate waste for approval, rejection, or transshipment through RIS’s vendor network
Review and approve discrepant profiles, processing feed locations, repacking requirements, and handling instructions, and ancillary fees
Communicate discrepancies and resolutions clearly and timely to customers, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Technical Service, and Operations
Recommend and implement quality, efficiency, and process improvements within the RFP program
Serve as liaison between the team and upper management, providing regular updates and progress reports
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for QA/QC functional responsibilities during evenings, weekends, and holidays
Foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive work environment
Train staff, develop and maintain procedures, assign responsibilities, and ensure appropriate cross-training and backup coverage
Provide leadership, clear direction, and achievable performance goals for the team
Supervise staff performance and development in accordance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines
Address performance issues and resolve conflicts to meet business objectives
Oversee departmental expenditures in alignment with the approved business plan and budget
Assist with development of department annual budget and provide relevant input for business and strategic planning
Support and comply with RIS’s ISO Integrated Management Systems (IMS) objectives
Utilize advanced PC and business applications, including MS Office, email, and teleconferencing tools
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field with chemistry coursework required; equivalent experience may be considered
Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, RCRA, and EPA regulations
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and resolve complex technical and operational issues
Strong customer-facing skills with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities
Highly organized, analytical, and effective problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Willingness to work additional or off-hours as required to meet business needs
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in an industrial plant environment

Preferred

Five (5) or more years of experience in chemical processing or a related field preferred
