Manager, Growth

Chemonics International is seeking a Growth Manager for its Growth Division. The Growth Manager will be responsible for market entry strategies, proposal development, and managing team members while ensuring adherence to company policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

Serves as new market team liaison, providing general support for market entry activities; sharing information; ensuring teams have necessary resources to respond to tenders, develop expressions of interest, or create pitches; and providing quality control and assurance aligned with divisional best practices and guidelines
Initiates and develops effective working relationships with clients, partners, counterparts, stakeholders, technical specialists, and donor agencies
Supports the identification and assessment of new markets, clearly identifying Chemonics’ competitive advantages and opportunities for growth
Facilitates go/no-go decisions by the senior vice president by summarizing and making clear, informed recommendations; works with other strategy and management team members to staff proposal teams across new markets
Externally promotes Chemonics by attending events, networking with clients, and displaying a clear understanding of the past and present portfolio and corporate history
Travels to conduct information-gathering assignments regarding new business efforts, including meeting with the client, potential partners, and stakeholders (including government counterparts), and other donors; informs decision-makers regarding strategy based on trip findings
May dedicate time to other work streams and functions to achieve Growth Division, including operations, project management, and technical practice contributions
Oversees maintenance of internal trackers, updating of corporate record-keeping systems and files, backstopping of consultants and contractors, and sharing of timely information with the strategy and management team, new market teams, and Growth Division leadership
Leads or participates in planning and execution of divisional activities such as training development and delivery; revision or creation of guidance, tools, and best practices; corporate initiative roll out; application of AI in proposal development; coordination across new market teams, etc
Takes initiative to support proposal efforts, including assuming capture and live proposal roles and building expertise to assume increasing levels of leadership roles on proposals, including as coordinator, technical writer, cost preparer, recruiter, management writer, partnership manager, MEL writer, mentor, or other roles as needed
Screens potential partners and makes engagement recommendations to proposal leads
Participates in proposal strategies in collaboration with proposal leadership to optimize profitability and win rate
Provides mentorship as appropriate to staff in new business roles and best practices
Actively engages in technical practice of relevance to areas of interest or focus, sharing information and best practices learned with the company
Collaborates with operations, new business, and project teams across the company to properly resource proposal efforts
Drafts and sends division-wide communications on live new business, procedural updates, and coordination efforts between teams within the division
Engages with cross-functional teams across the company to elevate system and technology needs of the division
Supports budgeting, operating expense management, and reforecasting
Oversees management of consultants, including timesheet management and ensuring payment processing
Learns and promotes strategies for effective teamwork and leadership development and cultivates collaborative working relationships across the company
Supervises, mentors, develops, and evaluates assigned staff; provides regular performance feedback and the time and opportunity to grow professionally
Provides organizational, planning, and management support to outside facilitators; serves as facilitator for meetings, such as new business trainings
Serves as acting director and performs other duties as required

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum three years of relevant experience in proposal/New Business management
Fluency in administrative, accounting, and management systems with demonstrated experience mentoring staff in these areas
Demonstrated experience writing proposal or report sections or similar
Demonstrated experience following standard practices and procedures, receiving general instruction on work progress, and making significant contribution to end results
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem solving and initiative to learn new skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Willingness to travel up to 8 weeks per year

Preferred

Master's degree
Experience supervising or mentoring employees
Foreign language proficiency
Previous experience working in international development and/or living or conducting volunteer work in developing countries
