Research Assistant - Ophthalmology
Washington University in St. Louis is looking for a Research Assistant in the Rajagopal Lab within the department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences. The role involves assisting with research studies, conducting experiments, and maintaining laboratory conditions to support advancements in retinal metabolism and related studies.

Responsibilities
Conducts research experiments and assays. Performs biochemical assays using mouse and human retinal tissue
Evaluates research results, reports findings and discusses project outcomes with staff involved
Maintains mouse colonies with specific genetic modifications
Performs data entry and maintains required documentation on lab and/or specimen conditions and develops and summarizes information into usable formats or presentations on research
Coordinates tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc
Complies with established safety procedures, compliance requirements, and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions
Coordinates research project with other institutions and investigators
Participates in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it
Assists with general supply/equipment orders, lab maintenance and cleaning
Performs literature research on specified topics
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education
Laboratory Operations (2 Years)
Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals
Preferred
Individuals with experience in one or more of the following techniques: western blotting, quantitative PCR, immunofluorescence imaging, cell culture, mouse colony management and husbandry
