Senior Director Enterprise Employee Communications

Responsibilities
Develop and implement an enterprise-wide employee communications strategy that supports business goals, enhances employee engagement, and strengthens organizational culture
Lead the employee communications team, providing direction, coaching, and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional growth
Oversee the governance, performance and optimization of internal communications channels, including Inside Medtronic (the company intranet), newsletters, digital signage, and events including the Global Town Hall, OU Spotlight Series, Crucial Conversations and Officer Meetings
Utilize data-driven insights, employee feedback, and best practices to continually refine communications strategies and tactics. Additionally, identify how AI and digitization can help us continue to innovate our approach to impactful employee communications
Drive communication strategies for enterprise-wide initiatives such as organizational transformation, M&A, and crisis response
Serve as a trusted advisor and partner to leaders and communicators across OUs, regions, and functions, drafting messages and providing counsel on effective communication approaches for sensitive or complex topics
Collaborate with HR, Employee Relations, Legal, and other internal partners—including communicators across OUs, regions, and functions—to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging across all channels and platforms
Champion a transparent, inclusive, and two-way communications culture that empowers employees and supports business transformation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
Minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience, including 10+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum 13 years of prior relevant experience and minimum of 10 years of managerial experience
Proven track record developing and executing enterprise-wide communication strategies that drive engagement and business results
Exceptional written, verbal, and storytelling skills tailored to diverse audiences and channels
Strong executive presence and ability to influence, advise, and partner with senior leaders
Familiarity with people analytics and the ability to connect communications outcomes with HR and business metrics
Experience managing high-performing teams and large-scale change management communications
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Proficiency with internal communications technology, measurement tools, and digital platforms
Agility and resilience in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
Proficiency with listening and measurement platforms (e.g., survey/pulse tools, intranet analytics, sentiment/AI text analysis) and data visualization
