Responsibilities

Be a trusted advisor on employee relations, leading investigations with fairness, consistency, and care
Guide leaders and employees through leave and absence management (ADA, FMLA, OFLA)
Design and support training, onboarding, and performance management programs that help people grow
Champion employee engagement initiatives that strengthen culture and connection
Ensure compliance across employment law, policies, workers’ compensation, safety, and unemployment
Balance strategy and execution by solving real-time people challenges while improving HR practices
Create standout first (and lasting) impressions by leading thoughtful onboarding experiences and ensuring smooth, respectful transitions when employees exit
Be a go-to resource for employees and leaders by confidently answering questions about policies, procedures, and benefits—bringing clarity and consistency when it matters most
Support employees through life’s moments by managing leave of absence programs and ADA accommodation requests with empathy, accuracy, and care
Navigate complex employee relations matters, leading investigations and resolutions that are fair, timely, and aligned with our values
Own critical compliance processes, including unemployment and workers’ compensation claims, ensuring both employee advocacy and business protection
Safeguard sensitive information by maintaining accurate, confidential employee and health records within our HRIS systems
Partner closely with the Retail leadership team to build a high-performance, people-first culture that directly supports business outcomes
Lead and develop the HR team, setting clear expectations, coaching for growth, and fostering accountability and collaboration
Serve as a trusted steward of our culture, balancing employee advocacy with company policies, employment standards, and legal requirements

Required

A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience
A solid understanding of state and federal employment laws and how they apply in real-world situations
Well-rounded HR generalist experience, with exposure to employee relations, compliance, and people operations
The ability to identify root causes of workplace issues and confidently mediate conflict or recommend effective solutions
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general web-based tools
A proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
Excellent listening and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and connect with employees at all levels

Preferred

Experience supporting a large hourly workforce (such as retail, call center, manufacturing, or healthcare environments) is strongly preferred
Familiarity with payroll and time & attendance systems is a plus; experience with ADP is a bonus
HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is preferred but not required
