The Educational Developmental Assistant serves as a lead trainer and activity facilitator, providing educational enrichment activities tailored to residents' abilities while supervising and supporting the staff and activities in the Education Enrichment Centers.

Responsibilities
Serve as a lead trainer and activity facilitator in the Education Enrichment Centers
Provide educational enrichment activities tailored to each resident’s abilities
Assist with instruction and group activities during early morning and lunchtime sessions, as well as transportation when needed
Responsible for day-to-day instruction, activity planning, schedule coordination, and other organizational functions within the assigned area
Monitor activities, ensuring active treatment, and maintaining the operational efficiency of the Educational Enrichment Centers
Document relevant participation information and provide feedback to the Lead EDA, EPA, and Teachers to support resident engagement, enjoyment, progress, and independence
Qualification
Required
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience working with students in an educational environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must possess a working knowledge of characteristics of population served and methods for educational instruction, as well as reinforcement strategies to encourage resident participation and success
Proficiency in reading, writing and critical thinking
Ability to instruct, support participation and model; to establish rapport and relate to population served, their support staff, and the resident's assigned teacher
Ability to work cooperatively, independently and with a group
Must possess effective communication and customer service skills, as well as interpersonal skills to work together with residents and a variety of service disciplines to share information of observed behaviors and communication of observations and recommendations effectively
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Preferred
Basic knowledge of educational activities, methods of instruction, and practical application of behavioral programming techniques
Experience in education settings with extensive instructional knowledge
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with others
Successful completion of CPI and CPR
Associate Degree in Early Childhood and experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges and autism
Two years minimum experience providing direct services to people with developmental disabilities in an educational setting or a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience
