The Staff Accountant Accounts Payable role involves providing functional support to the Controller and managing daily accounting responsibilities, including accounts payable, fixed assets, and general ledger transactions.

Responsibilities

Performs the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensures that all invoices and employee reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance to the Accounts Payable and employee reimbursement guidelines. This includes all accounts payable activity such as vendor invoices, corporate credit card, tuition and employee expense reimbursement payments

Records fixed asset purchases and dispositions in accordance to the Fixed Asset Policy and procedures and reconciles the subsidiary ledger to the fixed asset general ledgers

Prepares annual property tax returns

Records, reconciles, and tracks project costs, prepaid and accrued expenses

Prepares and files the 1099-Miscellaneous Income IRS tax form

Prepares work papers/schedules for all external and internal audits

Assists other department and branches with accounting matters as applicable

Updates desk procedures as needed and participates in continuous process improvement

Performs other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager and/or Controller
