TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER (CIVIL)

Responsibilities
Perform a wide variety of difficult and complex transportation engineering work
Serve as the licensed professional resident engineer on construction projects
Assign work, give instructions, make decisions on difficult engineering and administrative problems in connection with directing work on various transportation projects
Qualification
Required
A valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) required for Range D appointment
Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required
Knowledge of: Contract administration paperwork and documentation
Knowledge of: Caltrans Construction Manual, Standard Specifications and Special Provisions
Knowledge of: Highway and bridge construction, design engineering and cost estimating
Ability to: Administer construction contracts. Has knowledge of Caltrans Plans and Specifications, and ability to interpret and enforce contract documents, and monitor expenses
Ability to: Serve as a lead worker, coordinate/assign work and provide direction to staff
Ability to: Communicate with Contractors to provide direction and resolve conflicts
Ability to: Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships and be an effective team member
Ability to: Obtain or Possess a CA Professional Engineer License (If not currently licensed, state if examinations have been started, or expected date to begin examinations)
