The Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking a detail-oriented Federal Fund Accountant to join the Cabinet for Health & Family Services. The role involves managing complex federal funding programs, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

Audit out-of-state travel authorizations and in-state travel reimbursements (meals, lodging, mileage) to ensure compliance with State regulations and CHFS policies
Manage complex federal funding programs across multiple agencies, including review and approval of payments such as multimillion-dollar Medicaid disbursements and state-audited travel vouchers
Process check writer and wire transfer payments, prioritize invoices, reconcile financial data, and maintain accurate financial records
Identify and resolve contract and grant budget issues to support accurate and timely payments
Reconcile vendor accounts, monitor service reporting, and record corrections or return invoices as needed to ensure financial integrity and compliance

Required

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree (which includes twenty semester hours or thirty quarter hours in accounting)
Must have four years professional accounting or audit experience
Two years of the required experience must include federal accounting, auditing, or reporting
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex information and make sound decisions
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate across teams and stakeholders
Demonstrated initiative and proactive problem-solving abilities
High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work
Ability to interpret, apply, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
Strong time management skills and adaptability to shifting priorities
