Responsibilities

Designs and/or develops new products/processes, special instruments, and unique equipment to meet specific requirements of customer orders
Develops and assesses production or inspection operations and sequences, equipment, tooling gages, or acceptance equipment and processing methods required to manufacture or inspect complex components and assemblies
Estimates set-up times, operating times, and flowtimes, as well as production and acceptance need
Plans and performs engineering testing and development programs and uses advanced statistical and scientific methods to address and resolve engineering and production problems and to assure product manufacturability
Assesses designs for manufacturability to assure designs can be produced
Interacts with design agencies and suppliers to assist in resolving design, development, production, and acceptance issues
Assesses and prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, makes recommendations for and initiates the most cost-effective improvements for product, test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flowtime
Provides project leadership and technical guidance on complex engineering projects

Required

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics
4+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities
United States Citizenship
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

Preferred

Demonstrates application of advanced design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to complex engineering projects
Demonstrates working under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making
Experience in assisting with the design of tools and acceptance equipment
Experience in Work Instruction development
Leading definition of and acquisition of tooling, gaging and other equipment necessary to manufacture parts and to assure product quality
Experience estimating set-up times, operating times, and flowtimes, as well as production and acceptance need
Exposure to development of test procedures and performs routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work to assure product manufacturability
Experience in preparation of evaluation reports and analyzing discrepancies
Experience in Cellular Silicone and/or Additive (powder), or Manufacturing Machining, or Plating Processing
