The State of Wisconsin's Department of Natural Resources is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the natural resources of Wisconsin. They are seeking Seasonal Limited Term Employees at Governor Thompson State Park to provide visitor services and perform park maintenance duties during the summer season.

Responsibilities

Greet visitors, collect and account for fees and disseminate information. Work at entrance stations, campgrounds or other visitor contact stations. Use electronic cash registers, electronic credit card verification equipment and computerized reservation and reporting systems
Provide answers to visitor questions concerning the specific park area, as well as explain the area's recreational opportunities, interpretive services, concessions and campground availability
Distribute brochures, maps and provide directions/routes of travel throughout the park; inform visitors of potential safety hazards
Issue admission receipts in accordance with established guidelines
General maintenance and cleaning as required to meet the operational needs of the property
Perform maintenance of facilities and grounds to ensure they conform to established standards, mow and trim grass, signage installation, pick up litter, clean public use areas, remove trees and brush, Kiosk construction and/or repair, mitigating and resolving potential safety concerns, parking area, and road and trail surface repair
Manage properties and their facilities to protect public health and safety. Conduct building and designated use inspections
Operate and maintain equipment such as lawn mowers, weed trimmers, power tools, sprayers, etc
Fill and grade park roads, patch blacktop, and maintain culverts and shoulders

Required

Have a valid driver's license
Be at least 18 years of age
Have a minimum of two years licensed driving experience
Have not had three (3) or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two (2) years
Have no OWI/DUI violations within the past year
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public
Customer service and cash handling experience
Knowledge and experience working with computers
Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc
Knowledge, skills and experience with general maintenance operations
Building and/or facility repair or maintenance experience
