Paralegal Legal Assistant I
Cherokee Federal is a division of tribally owned federal contracting companies focused on serving government clients. They are seeking a Legal Assistant I responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to Assistant U.S. Attorneys, maintaining legal files, and preparing various legal documents.

Responsibilities
Prepares a variety of legal documents such as notices, motions, orders, stipulations, writs, subpoena, and judgments on default, declarations, complaints and processes of service
Serves as the principal clerical and administrative support person for the assigned Assistant U.S. Attorney(s) by carrying out and coordinating all legal clerical and day-to-day administrative support type activities
Maintains a calendar of all assigned active cases, which includes keeping track of filings, hearings, trial dates, and scheduling conferences and interviews
Supervises contractor personnel and provide assistance in such areas as payroll, vacation, benefits, and disciplinary actions
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
US Citizen AND an active Public Trust or the ability to obtain this clearance
Minimum of 2 years of legal secretarial experience, although higher education may be substituted for some of the experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office packages, especially MSWord
Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
