SNOW Certified Data Engineer
InnoVet Health is a small and growing business that provides health IT professional services to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). They are seeking an experienced Service Now Certified Data Engineer to develop and manage data intake workflows and custom data management applications, directly impacting VA healthcare delivery through scalable data pipelines and analytical data sets.

Responsibilities
Leverage ServiceNow (SNOW) and the Risk Management Application (RMA) platform to develop and manage data intake workflows, service catalogs, incident/request tracking, and other custom data management applications
Work within a SAFe Agile team environment, utilizing Jira (and Jira Align) or Azure DevOps to write and verify user stories and acceptance criteria aligned with program increments, demos, and release milestones
Data Solution Engineering & Prototyping : Develop and implement scalable data pipelines, analytical data sets, and rapid prototypes using Python, R, SQL, and related tools to support accelerated decision-making needs within the EHRM program
Perform in-depth data investigations and root-cause analyses on data quality issues, defects, and gaps impacting clinical workflows, reporting, interoperability, and overall EHR performance. Build repeatable processes and automation that enhance data usability, accessibility, and operational efficiency for end-users
Healthcare, Clinical, and EHR Expertise: Translate clinical workflows and health IT concepts into structured data requirements and technical solutions. Analyze and interpret healthcare operational and clinical datasets from Cerner Millennium or comparable EHR platforms (e.g., Epic, VistA) to inform data issue resolution and system optimization efforts.Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering and healthcare data management
Master Data Management (MDM) & Governance: Support the definition, maintenance, and implementation of master data management practices, reference data controls, and master entity resolution across EHR, operational, and enterprise data domains. Document data lineage, data transformation logic, and system-to-system interfaces to ensure transparency and traceability of data flows. Evaluate data quality, completeness, timeliness, and fitness for purpose; recommend corrective actions or system enhancements to address identified data issues
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Healthcare Informatics, Biostatistics, or a related field
At least 8 years of experience delivering data engineering solutions within federal health IT, healthcare, clinical, or large public-sector environments
Extensive hands-on experience with the ServiceNow platform, including architecture design, data modeling, and custom application development
Proven ability to build workflows and data services in SNOW (e.g. handling data intake forms, service catalog items, request/incident management modules)
Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and modern data engineering or analytics toolsets
Experience developing data pipelines, performing data transformations, and handling large datasets for analysis
Deep understanding of master data management principles and data governance impacts (data quality, standardization, reference data management) in an enterprise environment
Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and resolve complex data issues involving clinical or EHR data, including troubleshooting data integrity problems and recommending solutions
Experience working in Agile teams (preferably SAFe methodology), using tools such as Jira and/or Azure DevOps for backlog management, issue tracking, and collaboration
Familiarity with VA-specific data privacy and security standards, as well as overarching regulations such as HIPAA and FISMA
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to produce executive-level documentation and to translate technical topics into business terms for leadership audiences
Green card or US citizen required because of government contract work

Working knowledge of Oracle Cerner Millennium EHR data structures or similar healthcare information systems (e.g., Epic or VistA), including understanding of clinical data models and workflows
Experience with biostatistics, predictive analytics, or clinical outcomes analysis, particularly in a healthcare context to support data-driven decision making
Experience designing for data usability and accessibility – creating user-friendly data views, dashboards, or data products that facilitate end-user consumption and decision-making
Hands-on experience with automation and ETL tools such as Microsoft Power Automate, Alteryx, or similar, to improve data processing efficiency
Prior experience supporting VA's EHRM program or other large healthcare transformation initiatives. Familiarity with VA healthcare operations or clinical workflow processes is a strong plus (experience in a VA environment is highly advantageous)
