IoT System Engineer
Murray Equipment, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated IoT Systems Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This role is responsible for developing, integrating, and supporting embedded and IoT solutions that connect mechanical systems with enterprise and customer software.
Manufacturing
Responsibilities
Designs, prototype, and deploy IoT hardware solutions including microcontroller-based devices, communication modules, and supporting circuitry
Develops embedded firmware for sensors, registers, and industrial communication interfaces
Integrates IoT hardware with TCS meters, TCS 3000 registers, ICS loadout controls, and MEI/ICS control panels and instrumentation
Implements secure and reliable communication protocols and custom data interfaces
Works with software engineering teams to define APIs, data structures, and communication flows linking field devices with ICS ControlPro, ICS VisionPro, TCS HUB, and customer backend software
Collaborates with control system engineers on PLC, SCADA, and HMI integration requirements
Conducts hardware validation and testing in real-world industrial conditions
Creates and maintains documentation including schematics, test procedures, firmware repositories, BOMs, and compliance documentation
Supports commissioning, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and onsite/remote service of deployed IoT systems
Identifies and resolves hardware and firmware issues such as communication faults, sensor drift, power instability, or memory constraints
Assists with component selection, cost optimization, and supply chain evaluation to support scalable IoT product lines
Contributes to product roadmaps, feature design, and long-term IoT architecture planning
Maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas
Adheres to all company policies and procedures
Assists in other areas of operations and performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field required
3+ years of experience in embedded hardware and firmware development for industrial or IoT systems
Prior experience with automated engineering tools and embedded development environments
Experience with microcontrollers, industrial sensors, and communication modules
Lifting up to 50 pounds
Sitting for extended periods
Desk work involving continuous use of computers, electronics test equipment, and related tools
Ability to travel throughout the facility, between offices, and into production or industrial environments as needed
Occasional travel to customer sites for commissioning, troubleshooting, or installation support
Use of computerized Enterprise Resource System
Air and Car travel: Travel requirements include: Air Travel: Domestic and International *(must have or be able to obtain a US Passport)*, Auto Travel: *(must have or be able to obtain a valid Driver's License and meet the MEI Driver Administration Risk Reduction Tactics Program requirements)*
