Sunrise Senior Living is seeking a highly proficient, business-minded lawyer to join their legal team as a transactional Assistant General Counsel. The role involves providing legal support to the Real Estate, Development, and Asset Management teams, advising on a broad range of legal matters including real estate transactions and compliance with laws.

Responsibilities

Provide legal support to the Real Estate, Development, and Asset Management teams of Sunrise Senior Living

Provide advice and counsel on a broad range of legal matters, including real estate transactions and development matters, purchase and sale agreements, letters of intent, title/survey diligence oversight, financings, senior living management contracts, joint venture agreements, and other related contracts, drafting and negotiating other transactional and general contracts, and providing general corporate advice and assistance

Support business policies and practices with the ability to explain these policies and procedures clearly to others

Ensure compliance with all laws relating to applicable work performed

Advise business and operational team members and senior managers on all aspects of related work

Maintain compliance in assigned required training and all training required by state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met

Perform other duties as assigned

Required

6-7 years of experience as a lawyer in a law firm, business, or government, focused on corporate, real estate, development and contract work

Attorney license in good standing and admission to the bar in at least one state

Possess strong business acumen and integrate legal and business objectives

Ability to exercise sound legal and business judgement and ability to influence at varying levels of the organization

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver information concisely orally and in writing

Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and legal skills

Ability to work in high-pressure situations

Ability to negotiate effectively in complex legal matters
