Sr. Director, Model & AI Risk Strategy

Equifax is looking for a Senior Director of Model & AI Risk Strategy to join their Data and Analytics Center of Excellence. In this role, you will lead strategic initiatives to ensure safe development and deployment of ML models and Generative AI systems, while embedding governance throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Enterprise Product Owner for the Model System of Record, ensuring the platform evolves to handle the attestations, documentation and owners of ML and Gen AI systems models efficiently
Manage the master model validation lifecycle for ML models while overseeing the Gen AI governance control framework, including requirements for evaluation, monitoring, and periodic validation reviews
Coordinate routine activities performed by the MRM team, ownership of steering committee content, model validation intake and scheduling, day to day partnership with US and Canada Model Development teams
Architect the global strategic roadmap for MRM, prioritizing technical initiatives that automate data integrity and transparency to prevent team burnout as system complexity increases
Partner with Engineering, Legal, and Product teams to integrate governance requirements—such as evaluation and monitoring—directly into the Gen AI development flow
Lead project delivery by managing cross-functional dependencies, ensuring validation cycles are completed successfully and on time without sacrificing safety
Translate complex risk and technical data into actionable insights for the Model Risk Steering Committee to empower high-level, rapid decision-making
Act as a strategic consultant to regional leads to modernize validation practices and build a "risk-aware" culture that balances speed with enterprise standards

Required

7-10 years of overall experience in Product Management, Risk Management, or Model Analytics, preferably in high-growth, regulated environments
Minimum of 3 years of experience leading strategic initiatives in a technical area
Bachelor's degree required
Dynamic Strategic Thinking: Exceptional ability to pivot between granular technical requirements (like Gen AI monitoring) and high-level enterprise strategy
Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of credit risk modeling and regulatory frameworks (e.g., SR 11-7). Familiarity with AI/ML ethics and evaluation requirements is highly desirable
Communication & Relationship Mastery: A master at building relationships across global teams and translating technical risk concepts for executive audiences

Preferred

MBA is preferred
MBA or Master's are highly preferred
Relevant certifications (PMP, CSM, FRM, CRM) are highly desirable
Technical & Systems Proficiency: Expert command of digital productivity tools and experience with GRC software (Ex. Collibra) or model inventory platforms
A background in a bank model validation team and/or in management consulting
