InternFlexible Metal is a 100% Employee-Owned Company, and they are seeking a Process Engineering Intern to work alongside experienced engineers. The role involves analyzing, improving, and documenting manufacturing processes while gaining hands-on exposure to automotive production systems and lean manufacturing tools.

Responsibilities
Assist with time studies, process mapping, and workflow analysis to identify bottlenecks and efficiency opportunities
Support implementation of lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, kaizen events, standard work, and waste reduction projects
Collect, analyze, and report production data related to cycle times, scrap, equipment performance, and labor efficiency
Help develop or update process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for quality or process issues
Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to support engineering trials and process validations
Assist with design, testing, and implementation of fixtures, tools, or process layouts (if applicable)
Maintain safe work practices and adhere to all plant safety policies
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, or industrial systems (coursework acceptable)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Proficient with Microsoft Excel; exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) is a plus
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a hands-on environment
