They are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the development of complex tooling and assembly solutions for photonics applications, with a focus on hands-on engineering and precision mechanical design.

Responsibilities
Design and develop complex mechanical tooling, fixtures, alignment jigs, and optomechanical assemblies for photonics applications including active alignment
Create detailed SolidWorks 3D models, assembly structures, and engineering drawings (GD&T preferred)
Work closely with senior engineers to translate optical and process requirements into practical tooling and assembly solutions
Support prototype builds, tooling bring‑up, verification, and continuous improvement
Conduct tolerance analysis, material selection, and DFM reviews for precision parts
Work with Machining Vendor to lead the selection and procurement of all tools
Ownership and accountability of all tooling needed for Photonics Assembly
Evaluate and recommend modifications to improve yield, efficiency and reduce cost
Assist in process development for optical, laser, and micro‑assembly operations
Document design iterations, test results, and engineering changes as per internal standards
Co-work with other team members at Silitronics to exchange best practices
Qualification
Required
BS in Engineering or equivalent
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings)
1–2 years of mechanical design or precision tooling experience
Basic understanding of machining processes, tolerances, and precision mechanics
Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail
Willingness to learn new photonics‑related skills, alignment techniques, and advanced equipment operation
Preferred
Photonics tooling or optomechanical fixture experience
Exposure to optical alignment, fiber handling, or optoelectronic packaging
Experience with micro‑assembly processes (bonding, laser welding, epoxy dispensing, vision alignment, etc.)
Familiarity with FEA tools such as SolidWorks Simulation
Experience working in laboratory or cleanroom environments
Ability to work on fast-paced environment by adopting ever changing requirements of customer specification while multi-tasking
Strong skills to use MS Office, Presentation, RFQ in-depth analysis and proposals, Gerber View for PCBA, Stencil and Project Management
