Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the accounts payable team, ensuring consistent workflow, accuracy, and service levels
Oversee end-to-end disbursement activities, including invoice processing, approvals, and payment execution
Ensure invoice coding and posting comply with firm policies, client guidelines, and accounting standards
Manage AP activity in a matter-centric accounting environment, including client cost recovery and audit readiness
Maintain strong internal controls and support compliance efforts, including 1099 reporting and audit preparation
Utilize financial systems and reporting tools to monitor performance, track metrics, and support KPIs
Partner with stakeholders to identify and implement process enhancements, automation, and system improvements
Support departmental initiatives, special projects, and ongoing operational reviews
Communicate effectively with finance leadership and cross-functional teams regarding AP operations and risks
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 7 years of accounts payable experience
3–5 years of experience supervising an AP team within a large law firm or comparable professional services organization
Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance standards, and audit processes
Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
Ability to lead in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and control
Preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline
Prior experience working with legal financial systems such as Elite 3E or Aderant strongly preferred
Familiarity with expense and T&E platforms (e.g., Emburse/Chrome River) a plus
