Responsibilities
Reports to the Reliability Engineering Manager, PED
Conduct mechanical root cause failure analyses and recommend corrective actions
Manage condition assessments of high-energy piping, boiler components, pressure vessels, and mechanical systems
Apply mechanical analysis techniques to evaluate system performance
Serve as project engineer and/or project manager for capital equipment upgrade projects
Provide technical support and troubleshoot field installations
Perform engineering calculations in compliance with current codes and industry standards
Develop mechanical specifications, standards, and procedures
Prepare material and service cost estimates
Conduct field surveys to support design development and verify as-built conditions
Qualification
Required
10 years minimum experience in power plant engineering or related fields
Experience with material testing and failure analysis
Experience inspecting piping and structural installations
Proficiency in welding technologies and repair welding procedure development
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards: National Board Codes, ASME Sections I, II, V, VIII, IX, and B31.1, API 650 and 653
Experience with power generation equipment and support systems
Background in project cost/benefit and risk analysis
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or materials engineering
NYS Professional Engineer (PE) Certification
Ability to work in a power plant environment
Energetic, creative, and committed to innovation and goal achievement
Self-starter with strong leadership and team management skills
Effective communicator with strong verbal and written skills
Analytical thinker with a solution-oriented mindset
Capable of working independently and collaboratively on multiple high-visibility projects
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Safety-conscious with the ability to identify hazards and implement safeguards
