Sex Offender Registry Specialist (Administrative Support Assistant 3)

The State of Iowa - Executive Branch is seeking a Sex Offender Registry Specialist to manage and maintain sex offender records in compliance with state and federal laws. The role involves reviewing and evaluating registration submissions, creating records for offenders, and ensuring data accuracy and completeness.

Responsibilities

The Specialist manages and maintains the records
The Specialist reviews and evaluates all electronic and manual registration submissions
The Specialist creates records for new offenders, and reviews and completes submissions for new and existing registrants prior to acceptance of information into SOR database applications
Criminal history and court information is reviewed to confirm Iowa conviction information
Other jurisdiction criminal history, court and registry information is reviewed for non-Iowa convictions
As needed, registering agencies are contacted for additional information and/or clarification of information, and/or requested to correct and/or resubmit registration information
The Specialist assesses registration information for potential compliance issues
The Specialist also monitors the database applications for potential technical concerns
The Specialist completes annual SOR record validations as required by state and federal laws
Records are reviewed for completeness, accuracy and timeliness
Any issues are followed up on as appropriate with registering agencies, or the Division of Criminal Investigation if the issue is related to criminal history information

Required

Two years of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work
A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience
Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 2 or eighteen months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1
The applicant must acquire IOWA/NCIC Certification within six (6) months of employment; training is provided by the Department of Public Safety
The successful applicant must pass a thorough background investigation conducted by Iowa Department of Public Safety Investigators before a final letter of employment offer is delivered
