Responsibilities
Act as a technical mentor and advisor to early-stage healthcare startups within our portfolio
Translate business and clinical requirements into technical recommendations and development plans
Review product concepts, architecture proposals, and codebases to ensure scalability, security, and reliability
Help founders scope MVPs, estimate development timelines, and prioritize technical features
Advise on selecting the right tech stack, development frameworks, and third-party integrations (APIs, EMRs, AI models, telemedicine tools, etc.)
Provide feedback on UI/UX, workflow design, and digital health user experience
Guide startups on healthcare data requirements such as HIPAA, PHI protection, and best-practice security standards
Recommend architecture patterns suitable for healthcare environments (audit logs, access controls, encryption, redundancy)
Work directly with our team of physicians, investors, and entrepreneurs to evaluate the technical feasibility of new concepts
Participate in due-diligence discussions for potential investments and help assess the engineering strength of founding teams
Provide strategic insight on how to scale engineering resources—whether through hiring, outsourcing, or hybrid models
Qualification
Required
A strong software engineer with experience in web, mobile, or backend development, ideally including healthcare or other regulated industries
Comfortable advising on architecture, infrastructure, technical design, and development processes
Able to communicate clearly with non-technical founders, especially physicians and clinical leaders
Excited by early-stage environments, rapid prototyping, and helping founders turn ideas into working software
Interested in a flexible part-time advisory role (5–10 hours per month), with opportunities to expand
Passionate about improving healthcare through technology
