Responsibilities

Accountable for day-to-day implementation of fund portfolio manager decisions and fund activity

Assists in daily management of fund cash flows

Decides on the optimal implementation strategy

Adjusts daily exposures and implements operational policies within parameters set by the Head of Portfolio Implementation

Creates and instructs trades and ensures timely implementation

Provide liquidity analysis, exposure analysis and implementation recommendations to Russell Portfolio Managers

Contributes to overall strategy development and implementation for portfolios to help generate superior investment performance in Russell Investments’ funds and separate accounts

Provides support to the Head of Portfolio Implementation as it relates to the improvement of the new and existing operational infrastructure for all asset classes, including portfolio viewing, implementation and analytics

Stays informed of market events and guides portfolio managers in their implementation decisions

Required

Bachelor's Degree in any discipline

1-3 years' related investment experience, or experience in the investment management industry

1-3 years experience in global financial markets, portfolio management and analytics, and implementation/execution strategies

Technical skills, including basic statistics, and Microsoft Excel (strongly preferred)

Ability to think critically, solve problems and find solutions for an evolving and improving investment process

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate and work with all manner of team members in a conscientious and inclusive way

Aptitude to work under your own initiative and adhere to strict deadlines

Excellent communication and project management skills including the ability to proactively establish and maintain relationships across teams and to escalate potential issues and drive solutions

Ability to prioritize work under pressure while considering different projects simultaneously

High tolerance for change, complexity, and unpredictability to handle market volatility and corresponding time-sensitive investment processes

Positive attitude and desire to be part of a motivated and highly driven investment team

Dedication to assist peers and other teams at all levels of the organization, particularly during periods of market volatility and fund activity

Preferred

Advanced degree in a related discipline including, but not limited to Business Management, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, etc.)

Basic understanding of securities markets, derivatives, and foreign exchange investment strategies

Exposure to trading, operational and/or funds environment

Knowledge of quantitative investment practices, including portfolio analysis and optimization, is a plus, as is experience with Bloomberg or the ability to use or learn technology systems

Basic awareness of database structures and the programming languages used to query them including (ie. SQL, python, r, etc.) or a demonstrated ability to learn such skills are desirable
