LV/MV Switchgear & Controls Field Technician

JDC Power Systems, LLC is seeking an LV/MV Switchgear & Controls Field Technician to join their team. This role involves delivering expert service and support for electrical distribution assets, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining essential power systems online.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical distribution assets: transformers, circuit breakers, low/medium-voltage switchgear, and PLC-based control systems
Run diagnostics to reduce downtime and enhance reliability; leverage remote tools when feasible
Support system startups and commissioning to confirm performance against specifications
Be the customer’s primary point of contact during service calls; ensure issues are resolved and expectations met
Provide foundational training on system operation and basic maintenance procedures
Create thorough service records: test reports, observations, and performance feedback
Track time, work performed, and on-site parts inventory accurately
Collaborate with fellow technicians to deliver on schedule and to standard
Adhere to OSHA and company safety protocols; complete ongoing safety training and maintain certifications

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
3–5 years in field service across power systems/electrical equipment/industrial controls, including troubleshooting and repair of transformers and breakers
Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Competency with field service software, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced setting
Frequent travel with overnight stays to customer sites and JDC locations across the U.S
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Demonstrated dedication to safety and customer satisfaction
Proficiency with industry-standard test equipment (e.g., multimeters, breaker test sets)

Preferred

Associate's degree in electrical engineering or related field
NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or comparable credentials are advantageous
Low and medium voltage electrical systems
PLCs, SCADA solutions, and protective relays
